Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle

Hi girls! How have you been? Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend. Saturday I was hungover, Sunday I was having a slight fight with my blog because since then, you can find me and Manon on www.lovevarnish.com! Yes, our own domain ♥. I am very pleased with it! If you find anything not working out please please please let me know so I can fix it :). You should be transferred from lvcam.blogspot.com to www.lovevarnish.com so no worries with following/unfollowing and all that.

The polish for today is Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle. This is a gorgeous raspberry/purple glitter in a darker  color based. I needed 3 coats and I did not like application as much as I'd expect for an expensive polish. The first two coats looked like the glitter would be very patchy, at the third it still was at some places, especially corners. Because the glitter builds up a fourth coat would be too much in thickness so I just hoped the amount of bling would cover the few bare spots.

Do you have any experience with this polish? How did it work out for you?

For those interested, after the pictures is a rant about my experience with Apothica.com.

Now to get this polish was a whole different story - a horror story! As you may have noticed I have a sponsor for the blog. The sponsorship requires me to place a logo and text link to the website, in exchange I receive a $ 75 dollar giftcard every half year. So, obviously Loqi and I wanted to spend that $75 on apothica.com. First of all, the shipping for 2 Deborah Lippmann and 3 SpaRitual polishes was $44 to Holland. Pretty steep if you ask me, especially since it wasn't express shipping or anything.

The order got shipped, and we waited. And waited. The tracking didn't work but I thought it'd take some time. After 3 weeks I mailed Apothica asking why my tracking wasn't working and where the hell my package was. They replied the tracking actually was meant for the USPS website but that it was put wrongly in the order confirmation. After checking the tracking it said the package was offered to me but nobody was home - I could pick it up. I didn't know where. There is no USPS in Holland. I had no note, no mail, no phonecall, nothing telling me where that package could be. Mailed Apothica again. They said: you can call USPS for free (O RLY? I live on Holland.) or check with your local post office. The last I did. Nothing there. Mailed again. Got the answer it was offered to me and it should be available to pick-up. Getting the vibe here? Referring me to something I had already found out myself, two mails ago? You can giess how mad I was by that time.

Well, in the end they sent a new package. Apparantly they gave it extra status as it was here pretty quick. With extra costs because customs picked it out and charged me extra because it was a EMS package, costing me another few bucks extra! Needless to say I am not so pleased with this and am in doubt to prolong the sponsorship after the first term.

I am so curious what your experiences are!

  1. I love the shade...but have the same problems with it - it's not for an opaque use in my opinion...I use it over sheer white and make a pink sandwich out of it with a thin glitter layer in the middle. I have to heap on the Gelous to get it even however and then SV top coat for my fav shine. Also have put it over black, deep magentas, reds...have not tired it on blues yet - but think right season and right blue it might look good if I could figure out what to top it with as I really do like it best now made like we are doing jelly sandwiches...only I don't always look for just jellies - I use anything I have that is not opaque for a topper. But admit it's a really pretty shade of glitter...just I find I am falling away from my love of glitters for glitter only.

  2. I got this polish for my birthday and I think my bottle is a dud. The formula is thin and patchy, and it just will not dry properly! After about 10 minutes it becomes tacky, and that's as dry as it gets. When I use Seche Vite over it it is wearable though, as that forms a hard coating. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had a similar issue, as I don't know if my bottle is a dud or if this is just what this polish is like. Love the colour though!

  6. Wow, what a hassle! That stinks you had to go through so much grief for two polishes. I've only had good experiences with Apothica, but I'm in the US, so that's probably why.  On the bright side, Razzle Dazzle is stunning on you! I'm glad you finally got your pretties

  9. Too bad to hear you can't get it opaque and pretty! I mean when a polish is $2 I don't mind but with these prices? On the other hand when you use it for layering it does't use up as quickly ;).

I didn't have real gritty issues, first used a coat of Essence clear and then my normal TC.

  11. Yeah I guess when you are in the same country as the company it's less of a hassle! Maybe I'll just use my sponsor money to arrange "swaps".. if someone in the US orders with my giftcard code and they send something in return that would work out too!

    Thanks for the compliment!

  13. I had trouble with this too, tried on one nail and ended up layering over P2 Can't Get Enough and  it looked lovely, still took 3 layers of Razzle though.
