New Catrice color - Steel My Heart
Yay for finding new Catrice polishes! Last Saturday I found Steel My Heart and George Blueney, yesterday I found Steel My Soul. Today I've got the first one to show to you lovelies!
Steel My Heart is advertised as a polish with Brushed Metal Effect. This means it is somewhat matte, or satin finish in this case. I really enjoy the fact polishes with a different than normal finish are easily accessible and it provides even more color possibilities for the producers.
If you look closely at the bottle I'd qualify this polish as a very dark, brown/purple taupe. It contains lots of pretty sparkly bits and it seems there is a hint of blue shimmer running through the base.
Once you apply the polish the sparkle is easy to spot. I needed 3 coats for an even, opaque result. Because of the semi-matte finish it applies a bit though, it's rather thick but can easily become patchy if you hit the same spot again too quickly. The new Catrice polishes have a big, wide, flat brush with a rounded shape on the end. I'm still not sure if I like the brush, especially because it is almost as wide as the bottle neck meaning you have to be careful about dipping in.
Let's take a look at the polish, shall we?
First up is how it looks after applying, meaning no topcoat added at all.
As I said it looks not flat matte, but isn't shiny either. It has some texture, but doesn't feel gritty like glitters do sometimes.
Second I painted one nail with a matte topcoat. Now it's easier to tell this really isn't a matte polish. It also falls flat this way, and the sparkle gets dulled.
After that I painted the same nail with a shiny topcoat.
See how the sparkles becomes even more pretty? Also 1 coat of topcoat is enough to get rid of the texture.
