31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Violet Nails!

Deborah's manicure - Fuzzy nails

Hi loves! Day 6 of this challenge and we are slowly working ourselves towards the more "themed" challenges. I must say I am still kinda anxious about the water marble so maybe I should practice before the challenge day is really here ;-).

Recently I orderd some flocking powder on eBay and I received it this week. When I unpucked I saw this cute lilac/purple color and I decided to use it for today's theme! I also wanted to do something extra with it and decided to do a striping tape pattern too.

I started by painting all my nails with a base of El Corazon Kaleidoscope F-14, a purple metallic polish. This was opaque in 1 easy coat and dried quickly! After it dried enough I used 3 strips of striping tape on my middle finger and pinky to create a pattern. I painted over it using Barry M Prickly Pear (it was an exact match to my flocking powder) and used a pair of tweezers do dab flocking powder over the wet nailpolish. It stuck to the nail firmly and easily and after it dried a bit I could easily swipe over it to remove the excess. I did the same, minus the striping tape, to my index and ringfinger.

Doesn't it look adorable? I did these just for the challenge but I think this might be great for a night out! The blue color that came in the set is SO gorgeous and bright and royal, I'll definitely try this again.

Loqi's manicure - A stamped, striped gradient

Hi everybody!
Did you know purple is my favourite colour? Now you do ;) For today's challenge I thought I would go with some stamping. It's not the most complicated form of nail art, but I really enjoy it.

As a base for this manicure I used Essence Thelma, from the nail art twins line. When that was dry I used China Glaze Harmony with bm plate 319 to stamp a striped pattern. I didn't stamp the entire pattern, I kind of put it on halfway so that it made a kind of gradient effect.

Sadly in the first picture the stripes make my nails look kind of wonky because I couldn't get the stamp completely straight. It didn't look as crooked in real life though. I really liked how this turned out, the metallic made a really striking contrast against the crème and from a distance it really looked like a kind of gradient.

Stay tuned for challenge day 7: black & white!

Both designs look pretty amazing! You inspire me girly :)

  2. Lovely. My favorite is the stamped manicure :-D

  3. WOW they are both awesome!! I love the flocking powder. It is such a pretty color too. The second one is really cool. I love the color combination.

  4. Oh Deb, your flocked nails look so fun!! The flocking powder looks like its super scratchy though! (was it?)

And Loqi, your stamping combo is great! And purple's my favorite color too!

  5. I love both manicures! Flocking manis aren't really my thing, but I like what you did with it Deborah! I think I would keep rubbing my nails on my face if I did that. x) I don't think it will be soft though...is it?

And Loqi, I must recreate those sometime. They look fab. :)

  6. Oeh, ik vind ze allebei echt heel erg mooi <3
Ik ga ook weer eens fuzzy nagels maken!

  7. those fuzzy nails are so adorable.... and the stamping is wonderful

  8. Thanks Rhonda :) glad we can provide some inspiration!

  9. I love it too, Loqi did such a great job!

  10. Thanks Angie! It was supersoft actually, I wanted to keep petting my nails haha!

  11. Actually it is very very soft! And they are fun to play with :).

  12. Thanks Lin, ja tof die fuzzy nagels! Ik was er een beetje huiverig voor maar nu ben ik toch wel om ♥.

  13. Deborah...OMG you did it! Furry nails!!!! I don't know how I feel about this kind of manicures, they're lovely but I think I couldn't wear "hair" on my nails :D You know what? Your powder mixed with a sea-green one would remind me of Sullivan from Monsters INC. Every "furry" nail reminds me of him :D

Loqi's stamping is *_______* love it.

    Love both your manicures!!!

  14. I need to get me some flocking powder ASAP! I wanna pet my nails! lol!

  15. Ooooooh recreating Sullivan, that'd be so awesome! Unfortunately my set doesn't have a seagreen one but now I'll check and see if I can find it ;-).

  16. Oh my, Loqi's nails are so awesome! I really love the effect, it reminds me of music... xD I don't know how to say it, but it's like the visualizations when you play music on the player. How the stripes are jumping up and down *-* Soo amazing!

And yours are soo fluffy <3 I've always wanted to try this type of mani, but I haven't found the powder anywhere here... I love the colours of the powder you used, shines so lovely^^

Can't wait for another creations of yours^^

  17. I actually know what you mean! It does look a bit like that indeed :).

Just check eBay, it is very cheap and you get lots of colors!

  18. Thanks so much! That is actually a good comparison, it does look like music visualization!

  19. Hahah a Sullivan manicure would be awesome! And thank you!
