W7 Teal and the use of a fan brush

Hi loves! How are you doing today? I did some shopping for some of my polish friends, it seems everyone is going nuts for the new Catrice polishes. I even thought about opening a webshop but I don't think it's legal to buy them in store and sell them with profit, now would it? So, I'll just stick to the personal shopping duties ;-).

Today I git a manicure to show you that's made with my favorite color ever: teal. I just loooove teal so much! I used W7 Teal (woah, such an ORIGINAL name!) as my base. I needed 2 coats and it applied very smoothly, covering nicely and even. After it dried, I used a fan brush and a franken I once made to add "strips" of polish to the center of my nail. I painted a strip of polish on the metal backing of a stamping plate, dipped in the fan brush and just swiped across the center of my nail. I like the effect this has!

What do you do with a fan brush? Any recommendations for me?

  1. First of all: I looove your blog! Now, that being said:

I mostly use fan brushes the same way you do: For stripes on my nails. If you wanna have a look: http://jahreszeitenhaus.blogspot.de/2012/03/nageldesign-grunes-feuer.html or http://jahreszeitenhaus.blogspot.de/2012/09/nageldesign-lila-feuer.html (sorry -- I blog in German, but the pictures speak for themselves :D)

I like the look of the stripes made with a fan brush. It's unique. Love your technique of stripes in the middle, too! Gonna have to try it!

Sometimes I use fan brushes also to take some glitter and lightly apply it to the still wet nails by bumping against the brush... if you know what I mean :D Works fine, too!

  5. Really lovely combo of colours <3 I've just got fan brush, can't wait to try something out with it^^ I've only seen it used with glitters (dusting the excess off the nail) and then I saw a tutorial on gradient nails with fan brush. It was done with acrylic paints and looked super fast and easy, but I'd love to try it with polishes. So I'm curious how it will work. And also one very nice design, some kind of multicoloured striped nails... It looked pretty awesome!

  12. You are welcome! I am trying to figure out how to get the thinner stripes (like sugar spun nails but flat :)) but haven't succeeded yet.

This looks like an "earthquake" mani- which I only just discovered a few months ago- I have only used my fan rush once or twice and it was to create "wings" on a bird.

  16. An earthquake mani? I Googled it and think I know what you mean, you could compare it to that indeed :).

Sounds pretty too! I think this brush is quite versatile :).
