Salon Perfect Exploded

Hi loves! I am back from vacation, no more scheduled posts LOL! I had such a good time, I love Greek food, I love Greek culture, I love Greek weather.. ahh, missing it already. I only polished my nails once while gone, and I didn't take proper pictures of them, only this one featuring a gorgeous view at the blue sea beneath us. Really, it was so clear and blue everywhere! Gorgeous.

Now I am back at home and have all my polish to choose from, I am actually a bit overwhelmed and uninspired. Could be the vacation lazies or something. So, I polished a combo I already tried on a nail wheel before leaving and I'll admit, I wasn't as thrilled with it as I was when trying this.

I started with a base of China Glaze Hang-Ten Toes (2 coats) because I wanted this to be BRIGHT. After it dried, I used 1 coat of Salon Perfect Exploded. This is a Floam type of glitter (matte neon glitter) and it applied aweful. Really, it spread too much but also clumped at the same time, so lots of dabbing were needed to get a nice result. I didn't want to do a second coat because my nails already were thick at one.

The glitter is also topcoat hungry, I took these pictures after it dried the whole night and it was feeling textured already. I used a coat of Gelous and my regular Essence topcoat and normally that gives supersmooth nails so I was a bit sad :-(. I still love this glitter and hope to find a combo that works better for me!

How would you layer this neon matte glitter? Tell me in the comments!

  1. I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of these SP Floam type glitters. I've only tried 1 so far, and really disliked it (the purple and blue one). I also have he yellow and blue, and the orange and yellow. My orange and yellow came without a brush, and I just looked at it, it's about half evaporated. Apparently missing the brush doesn't seal the bottle. Blech!

Anyways, I'm glad you had fun in Greece! I wanna go!! I've always wanted to go, so I'm sorta jealous! :P

  2. Welcome back! The photo with the ocean is just beautiful I hope to travel there some day. I bought all of these polishes and had no problems with Kaboom (I have photos on my blog) is it an issue that thinner would fix? If not it would be killer in a franken

  4. I know I used 3 coats of Gelous over Floam so I can relate! I love the combo btw!

  5. Nice combo! How about a more contrasting colour?
I posted my first trials with Neon Collisions on my blog this week. They are not perfect... but some of them seem to work. My favourite layerings are Zapped over blue (I painted one half of my nails) and Bang over brown. I still need some extra training with them, but I like that Floam-like texture.

  6. No brush?! That is SO weird! And sucky it evaporated. You know, I always love these glitters on others, but on myself I just can't find the right combo it seems. And building them up isn't the best either because it gets so thick!

Haha you should go sometime! Maybe make a honeymoon of it ;-)?

  7. Thank you! Greece is really beautiful (for what I've seen of it so far).

I might try some thinner indeed to see if it applies better that way :-).
