31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Half Moon Nails!

Deborah's manicure - Black & White hounds tooth and half moons

Hi loves! How are you this Wednesday? Is it still nice weather where you live or has Fall kicked in over there too?

Today we enter the half moon challenge theme.. I was actually looking forward to this one haha! Half moons have such a lovely vintage feel to them, but depending on the color combo they can also look really bold or modern. I have been seeing some lovely stamped manicures lately involving the hounds tooth design so I wanted to incorporate that, and how better to combine the stamping image then in black & white?

I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (2 coats). This has quite a thin formula and while you have to be a bit careful you don't flood your cuticles, it does level better because of that. After it dried, I used a french manicure sticker on my index and middle finger to create the half moon shape. I filled in with Wet 'n Wild Black Créme. I stamped using the same polish and Bundle Monster 322 on the ring finger and pinky. My thumb got stamped too but *shocking!* it got too long for the image! I solved this by adding a half moon in black. I actually wanted to combine the stamp and half moon on all my nails but I think it would have been to crowded on the rest of my nails that are a lot smaller than my thumbnail.
Obviously I had to mattify it too!

What do you think of this combo of half moon and hounds tooth stamping? Do you like it? What is your favorite half moon color combo?

Loqi's manicure - Half sun manicure

Hi guys!
I have to admit, I personally don't like half moon manicures. I just don't see the appeal and thus have never done them before. But as this is a challenge I wanted to do something unique with them anyway. So I decided to do a half sun manicure!

I used French manicure stickers over China Glaze Cherish for the half sun and applied striping tape to simulate sun-rays. Then I applied a coat of Kiko 347 Dark Green and removed all the tape. As a last touch I used some rhinestones to simulate a little light point in the sun.

I actually quite liked this manicure when it was done. The curves of the half moons aren't as rounded as I would have liked, but I do like the result with the beams! I hope you guys like it too, and see you next week!

Stay tuned for challenge day 19: Galaxy Nails!
