31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Inspired By A Color!

Deborah's manicure - A Vampire's Kiss

Hi loves! How have you been? It's very nice weather here, even had lunch outside yesterday.. that's quite impressive for this country! I like it, love being outside in the sun.

So, today's challenge was "inspired by a color". I had a hard time with that and therefore chose to go with Sarah's approach: "inspired by a specific polish color's name". In this case Icing Vampire's Kiss! It was still untried so I decided this would be a great way to use it and try some freehand nail art too.

I Googled "Vampire's Kiss nail art" and stumbled upon this site. I quite liked the design of the lips and fangs so I picked some polishes to recreate. I used: China Glaze With Love (red), a england Camelot (black) and Hema 809 (white). I used 2 nail art brushes, a thicker one for the black triangle that creates the v-shape in the upper lip, and filling in the black mouth part. Also to create the fangs. The other was a more striper like brush to create the outlines of the black mouth part and roughly draw the fangs. With a very small dotting I created the "shiny" lip part on the bottom lip!

I used a base of a england Camelot topped with 2 coats of Icing Vampire's Kiss on my thumb and ringfinger, and my pinky was done with 2 coats of Hema 809 and a fingerprint with China Glaze With Love. I'll try the fingerprint design again but with a darker red - this turned out a bit too pink!

What do you think of my take on the challenge today? Do you like the Vampire's Kiss?

Loqi's manicure -Iridescent green

Hi guys! Today's challenge was kind of abstract, so after thinking about it for a while I decided that sometimes 'less is more' and went for a simple combination of matching polish and decoration. I have a couple of containers of sequins and I love the green one. It's a combination of iridescent green and copper hexes, which I thought would look great over a green shimmer polish.

The polish I picked was Misa Toxic seduction, a lovely teal leaning green shimmer. I painted 3 thin coats of this and then placed the sequins around the borders of my nails. Simple yet pretty!

Stay tuned for challenge day 22: Inspired by a song!
