31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Water Marble Nails!

Loqi's manicure - A fall water marble

Hi guys! I looooove me a good water marble. I think they can be quite striking and I love the way some polishes work together in water. But.. I absolutely hate doing it myself lol. Marbling is messy business and I always have difficulty finding polishes that play nice with water. After all the mess has been cleaned up however, I'm always glad I took the time to do it.

For today's marble challenge I decided to pick all browns and greens to create a fall manicure. I used Essence Spicy (dark brown crème), H&M Envy Me (green shimmer), China Glaze Westside Warrior (army green crème, I also used this as the base for this manicure) and China Glaze Kalahari Kiss (yellow brown crème). Kalahari Kiss however, flowed so well in the water that it turned very transparent. When I dipped my nails in, the transparent coat turned the army green base a lighter, dustier colour. I actually think this combination looks better than it did with the original colour of Kalahari Kiss, so it was a great surprise!

After everything had dried and the mess was cleaned up (I always tape my fingers to minimize the 'damage') I used Spicy and Envy Me to create strings of dots, because dots make everything better right?

I'm really happy with how this turned out, especially with the little colour changing surprise! I hope you guys like it too and see you next week!

Deborah's manicure - A small touch of marble.

Hi loves! Eeeeek, the day I feared so much arrived.. Water marbling! So, I had never tried the galaxy nail art before, but today is a first too. Yes I have never tried water marbling in the 4 years I am obsessing over polish. I just always heard everyone complain about it being messy and difficult and everything else, and just thought "why bother"? I am still not sure if I'll ever fully appreciate this nail art technique, but I do want to try it more!

I decided I'd cut myself some slack (have been quite busy lately so didn't have proper time to do all nails) and just marble 2 nails. On my index and middle finger you are seeing a new P2 Sand Style polish called Classy, I hope to show that to you tomorrow by itself. I used OPI Kiss Me On my Tulips for my pinky and ring finger (1 coat) to have a base. For the marble I used OPI Take The Stage and a england Camelot. I like that OPI Take The Stage doesn't really cover Kiss Me On my Tulips, but still alters the base a lot with the copper sparkle. Unfortunately my topcoat cracked or smeared the black a bit :-(.

What is your biggest tip for water marbling? Any big do's or don'ts?

Stay tuned for challenge day 21: Inspired by a color!

  2. Beautiful! Water marbling is such a long process, but the end result is just so rewarding! I've only done it once so far, but I need to do it again soon cause they look so cool.

  3. I'm love with WM final results, but anytime I try to do some watermarbling the only idea to drop my polishes into water prevents me to go on. I simply cannot, I feel like I'm wasting them LOL (I know I'm insane XD).

Anyway, I love both of your entries! Loqi, this is the first "dark" WM I'm seeing, they usually show bright colours and your work immediately caught my eye!
BTW I'm in love with WM/textured combo as well <3
    You're gorgeous, girls!
