L'Oréal Midnight Mistress

Hi loves! I was totally planning to swatch the Too Fancy Lacquer Winter Sonata collection and post the swatches today, but last night I was very slow at my swatching and today has been swamped with running errands and opening up my Etsy shop. Yup, I opened up an Etsy shop! Not for nailpolish, but phone cases MADE with nailpolish :D! I'd love for you to check it out and tell me what you think.

Luckily I had some pictures edited and ready to go or the blog would have been empty another night. This is L'Oréal Midnight Mistress and it's a very very inky dark blue polish. I picked this one up together with 2 others on sale and it sparked my interest because it really looked like ink in the bottle. A bit squishy and sheer but very dark. It didn't disappoint on the nails though application was a bit tricky, mostly because of the brush these small bottles hold. It's fat and wide and not my favorite type of brush at all.

I needed 2 coats for opacity. In my pictures it might look patchy but that's just the jelly nature and bright lighting I use for my pictures. It highlights imperfections you can't see in real life! Combined with topcoat this looked VERY glossy and it might make a great base for stamping in the future.

What do you think of darks like these? Too dark or just right? Tell me in the comments!

  1. Gorgeous color! I love these rich dark shades.

  2. How would you say this compares to Essie AfterSchool Boy Blazer? Gorgeous indigos- love!
