31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Inspired by a book!

Hi loves! No manicure from me for this challenge. Actually, I am stepping out of the challenge all together.. lately blogging has been starting to feel like something I have to do instead of want to do, so I am taking a step back in this challenge, and will not be posting on Wednesday and Saturdays anymore. I'm not quitting, but I don't want it to become a drag and not enjoy this anymore, so posting a bit less will hopefully give me some more space :-).

Loqi will continue the challenge and I am glad she does.. just look at those beautiful nails below!

Loqi's manicure - Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

Hi guys!
For this challenge I picked one of my favourite books: Memoirs of a Geisha. It's actually been a while since I read it, I think I'm going to revisit it soon. I wanted to make a delicate manicure to represent the shy character Chiyo Sakamoto, before she became a Geisha. But I also wanted the manicure to look like a kimono, to represent her after she became Sayuri, the Geisha.

To combine these to elements I used the sakura pattern from MoYou London Suki plate 09 with a white stamping polish to cover my whole nails, as a patterned kimono. And I used OPI Princesses rule! as a base because it's very soft and delicate.

I quite liked the result, but I must admit that isn't a manicure I would normally wear.
What do you guys think? Did I capture some of the ideas of the book? And would you wear this manicure?

Stay tuned for challenge day 25: Inspired by fashion!

Yes, it's a good idea to take a break when blogging feels like work, Deborah. Beautiful, Loqi! Of course I would wear it. And I think it's time for me to watch the movie again.

  5. Thanks Lani, cutting back on the amount of posts already has given me a much better feeling about blogging, so I am happy I made that decision!
