Swatches & Review - HARE Twin Peaks pt. 1

Hi loves! Today I have some newish HARE polishes for you! Twin Peaks is HARE's current Winter collection and it consists of 6 polishes. They are all inspired by something from Twin Peaks and I think Nikole did a great job capturing this show in polish! I've split this into 2 posts and you'll be seeing Damn Fine Coffee, Flesh World and The Owls Are Not What They Seem today. Let's get started!

Damn Fine Coffee is a deep brown jelly packed with gold & red flakies, plus golden iridescent hexes in 2 different sizes. This is named after the line Special Agent Dale Cooper uses to describe the coffee he loves so much ;-). The red flakies give this a warm tone (and a lot of frustration when removing this, lol). I really loved this one even though it's a brown polish - usually not my favorite! I really love the depth in this one, so much going on. Application was okay, it's packed with the flakies and glitter so take your time, it is opaque though in 2 coats. It doesn't dry bumpy, 1 smooth layer of topcoat is enough to provide a glassy finish.

Flesh World is a "nude" jelly with gold dots & hexes, plus black and bubblegum pink glitter in various shapes/sizes, with delicate gold shimmer. The name comes from a very specific scene in the series, where Dale discovers a certain magazine called Flesh World. I layered this shade over a coat of OPI Did You 'ear About Van Gogh? as it seemed a bit sheer otherwise. This also balances out the yellow tinge in the basecolor a bit. It applies heavenly, the glitter spreads out nicely too. I used 2 coats over my basecolor and Gelous to top it off. I love the pink glitter in this one!

The Owls Are Not What They Seem is sort of a mink brown jelly, with gold dots and hexes, white squares/hexes, brown squares/hexes and some white flakies thrown in for good measure! It's hard to explain the name behind this polish if you haven't seen the show, so I suggest you just watch this scene :-). The basecolor of this one is leaning to the taupe side, and I am still not sure if I like that or not. Again, a very full polish so take your time while applying and you'll be fine. No clumping or dragging, a wee bit of dabbing to ensure even coverage of the color, and you'll get away with 2 coats! Topped with Gelous.

What do you think of these 3 shades? And have you ever watched Twin Peaks? Tell me in the comments!

  10. I think Damn Fine Coffee is so beautiful! I never watched Twin Peaks, it was one of those shows I didn't hear about until it was over - so typical of me, always a day late and a dollar short.
