Hi loves! Today I am finally sharing my nails that I wore on New Years Eve! When I saw this grungy french manicure done by Kelli from The Nail Polish Challenge, I immediately knew that it would be my NYE manicure. The polishes to use also immediately stood out to me: El Corazon 124 Matte Effect and China Glaze 2030.
The technique to create this look is actually the same as how you create the distressed look (a great tutorial can be found at Chalkboard Nails), but just focussing on the tips rather than the whole nail. I started with the matte black base, done in 2 coats. After it dried, I used China Glaze 2030 for the tip. I first wrapped my nail ensuring that the front would look gold, and then dragged down a bit with the almost dry brush. No topcoat because I wanted the black to stay matte!
My cinderella hand didn't look as edgy as my swatch hand, but it's a technique that isn't too difficult to master with your non-dominant hand! And it can be done in countless numbers of combinations, varying with finishes too.
How do you like this grungy french manicure? Would you rock this style? Tell me in the comments!
