Swatches and Review - 2 Polishes From The Essence Superheroes LE

Hi guys!
The new Essence LE collection, Superheroes, is in store. And today I've got 2 of the new shades to show you: The oilslick polish Power Girl and the sand polish The Incredible!

The Superheroes collection has 6 new Limited edition shades, all with a different finish. The bottles all have stickers on the caps, labelling their finish. There is an oilslick polish (duochrome), a sand polish (texture), liquid gold (metallic), galaxy flakes (mixed glitter), thermo effect (colour changing) and holo effect (foil with holo micro glitter).

The first of the 2 I picked up is Power Girl, the oilslick finish. Power Girl is a gorgeous purple/blue duochrome. It's not terribly original but the shimmer in this polish is really pretty and the duochrome effect is quite striking (sadly the orange colour from the bottle picture doesn't show on the nail). Now we all know how terrible blurple polishes photograph, and this one was no exception. My camera picked op much more of the purple than the blue, in real life the blue is most visible and the duochrome effect is stronger.

Shown here is 3 thin coats, it applied a bit thin but otherwise normal. The drying time was ok and removal was easy.

The second polish I picked up is The Incredible, the sand style polish. The Incredible is a turquoise texture polish with quite a lot of sparkle. I love the colour but I would have preferred it to dry a bit more matte. The finish stays quite shiny and this can make the polish look like it's just a bumpy manicure instead of a texture polish, which is a shame. Application was so and so, this is 3 thin coats and it dried slower than most textures. Removal was tricky. The blue in the polish does stain and the texture can rip up your cotton pads, making it quite hard to remove.

So what about you guys? Have you found this LE display yet? And will you be picking up these or the other colours? I hope you like this post and see you next week!

  2. I'm still hoping to find this TE in stores here, I have few of these polishes on my wishlist, but definitely not this textured one, I don't really like the finish, just as you described! And for me, Essence has the worst textured polishes I've ever tried when it comes to drying time - even those 3 lovely shades from standard range dried ages on me :(( But this blurple duochrome is gorgeous! Great swatches :))

  4. I have The Incredible on my nails right now and although I kinda like the colour, I'm also not too happy about the texture. It gets more shiny the longer you wear it :(

  5. Yes, that happens with all matte colours, it's the oil from your skin/skincare products/soaps :(
It's really a shame because the colour is very pretty

  9. Actually, I've never noticed any other textured polish becoming shiny - sure, they loose their texture, but this shininess is something new to me :(

  10. Ah that's weird, I get it with all matte colours, but I never lose the texture from them, pretty strange!

  11. Strange indeed!

  12. I was able to grab 4 of them, but I'm not very impressed. I like Power Girl, I think it's very pretty :) But I really don't like The Incredible. I think Essence needs to work on their texture polishes ;) I also got The Awesome (a bit too sheer for my liking, I prefer indie polishes) and Super, Man :)

  13. I agree, Essence could do better with their textures. I believe they are releasing some new ones soon, hopefully they will be better!
