Swatches & Review - My 3 picks from the China Glaze Sea Goddess collection!

Hi loves! Today I have 3 polishes from the China Glaze Sea Goddess for you. This is a 6 piece textured finish collection, one of the Spring 2014 collections actually. I received the shades Sand Dolla Make You Holla, a white texture; Shell We Dance which is a pink glitter; and Teal The Tide Turns that's a minty shade. Let's take a look!

Sand Dolla Make You Holla is a white texture with a multicolored glitter sprinkling. If you are thinking "oh no, not a white texture again!" because of last years failure (There's Snow One Like You) be sure to erase that thought from your head and look objective to this one.

This white texture has a very squishy base, I used 2 coats to keep that squishyness but it does show some VNL. The multicolored glitter looks really cute! Application was fine, just be sure to let your coats dry all the way in between otherwise the texture has a hard time showing up. The base remains shiny and that's the only thing I don't really like, I love the matte finish on textures to make the sparkle pop more.

Shell We Dance is a bright pink texture with a silver and pink glitter added. This is more like your "regular" textures.

Again, I needed 2 coats and let them dry in between to avoid dragging or a too smooth surface. It applied neatly, and the texture is really pretty on this one. I am not so sure about the color though on my skintone, maybe in Summer when I have a tan (as if, lol!).

Teal The Tide Turns is a mint shade, with a darker green glitter. The base is very creamy and remains shiny, while the glitter really stands out. I didn't like this one, it somehow looks lumpy or gooey.

I used 2 careful coats, it applied a bit more tricky because it looks really lumpy really quickly. If you use thin coats that helps! I just didn't feel this one, too bad!

My favorite is Sand Dolla Make You Holla, but I am not overly impressed with any of these. What do you think of them? Tell me in the comments!

  1. While I do find the colours quite pretty, this finish really confuses me, lol, it just looks so strange.. like it's never really fully dry (not just wet looking) and kinda..frothy? What were they thinking?? :)

  2. I think China Glaze just hasn't quite mastered the texture effect yet. The colors are so gorgeous though! I've got my eye on Wish on a Starfish and the purple one (can't remember the name at the moment), and despite the gooey-ness of Teal the Tide Turns, I can't help but want it! :X

  5. Yes, exactly that! It's just not as pretty as it would be with a matte base I think.

  6. I agree! Wish on a Starfish looks really great in everyone's swatches so kinda sad I didn't receive that one, but oh well!

  7. I didn't care much for the green one, especially the formula, I really like the other 5! SO MUCH better than the textures from last year!

  8. It all depends on what kind of texture you like I guess! I haven't tried any from last year though, they are not my cup of tea at all.

  9. The two that were recommended to me were shell we dance and seahorsin' around and I love them both! Perhaps you should try seahorsin around. :)
