Hi loves! Last Sunday night I felt like doing nail art, and initially I wanted to do a nude with glittery half moon look. But, after I painted the nude base (which is H&M Nerd), I suddenly felt like recreating this gorgeous freehand floral look I had seen on both Nailed It and Let Them Have Polish. So I decided to try and do the freehand floral!
I'll admit freehand nail art scares me. I can't draw properly on paper, let alone try it on my nails, and how about doing your dominant hand using your non dominant hand? I can sometimes still not paint properly with my non dominant hand, lol! But, I wanted to push myself and give it a shot, so I grabbed OPI I Just Can't Cope-a-Cabana, OPI Live. Love. Carnaval., OPI Jade Is The New Black and last but not least a england Camelot. Also, 2 dotting tools (medium and small) and an angled small brush as well as a small striper brush.
The full tutorial can be found on Divine Caroline and was created by Katy from Nailed It, and the best part about this look is that you don't have to be too careful - going outside the edges of your flowers is okay! For me it worked best to paint the black arches sloooowly and with shorter strokes, instead of the quick swoosh Katy recommends. I just can't do both a quick swoosh as well as an arch, lol! I also used Cris' idea to fill in with dots instead of the thin lines.
I only did two nails on each hand because well, this already took me some time, but I LOVED the look and really want to try it again in another color scheme.
What do you think of this freehand floral nail art? Yay or nay? Tell me in the comments!
