Hi loves! Today I have something very cool to show you: the DAZZLED Holo Grail, a nail polish subscription box filled with exclusive holographic polishes. Each month a new theme is picked (you can suggest themes and if yours is picked, you'll get the box for free!) and the creators participating that month will create a shade exclusive to the Holo Grail box.
There are various contributors on rotation but the one that's always a steady guest is Too Fancy Lacquer. Other creators that participate are Aly's Dream Polish, Philly Loves Lacquer, NailNation3000, Literary Lacquers, Emily de Molly (on hiatus), Lilypad Lacquer and Foxy Paws Polish. There is also a guest each month. I think this is a super fun way to get to know new brands, but also to score some fun exclusives.
As I said each month the box has a certain theme and the May box was all about Planet Earth so there are 4 polishes representing the 4 elements. There's fire which is Literary Lacquers Not Up Close. Also water which is Aly's Dream Polish H2whOa (love that name!). Next up is earth represented by Cupcake Polish Earth Girl. And last but certainly not least is the element wind which is captured by Too Fancy Lacquer Pixie Whispers.
You can order each box in advance and they are made to order. Right now the July box is up for grabs and it retails for $59,98 (shipping not included). You get 4 exclusive shades for that which are delivered well packed in a cute box, wrapped up nicely in paper. What I like is the exclusivity and the theme. It's a fun angle for a box and gives a more cohesive vibe. I do think it could feel a bit more luxurious, maybe some cuticle oil samples or something like that would be nice. After all, 60 bucks means about $15 a polish and that's not what most of these retail for usually. A good thing is you don't have to subscribe, you can just buy the box on a month to month basis meaning you aren't stuck with a subscription you might not be able to afford each month.
Fire - Literary Lacquers Not Up Close is a fierce coppery shade with a strong holographic finish. This is a metallic shade and it just seems to glow underneath bright lighting!
The formula was great, thin yet easy to handle and good coverage with 2 coats. I swatched it over a base of Duri Rejuvacote and topped it with Essence Better Than Gel Top Sealer.
Water - Aly's Dream Lacquer H2whOa is an airy shade of blue with a scattered type of holographic particles, yet the effect is quite strong making it almost look linear again. There also seems to be a bright blue shimmer present in this shade.
Good formula, I did use 3 coats because it seemed to pack some more punch that way but other than that no complaints. I swatched it over a base of Duri Rejuvacote and topped it with Essence Better Than Gel Top Sealer.
Earth - Cupcake Polish Earth Girl is a muted jade green filled with a linear holographic effect. I think it's the holographic part that makes the basecolor a bit muted (holographic powder is grey/silverish in tone). It's a more wearable shade of green I think.
Formula was again nothing to complain about - 2 buttery coats and I was done! I swatched it over a base of Duri Rejuvacote and topped it with Essence Better Than Gel Top Sealer.
The thickest formula of all 4 polishes in this box but still easy to handle and very opaque, 2 coats were all I needed. I like how it truly is a soft grey and not silvery looking. I swatches it over a base of G&G Stuck On Blue! and topped it with G&G HK Girl Top Coat.
That's it, my full review on the DAZZLED Holo Grail box! Have you ever bought one of these boxes? And what is your experience with them? Tell me in the comments!
