Swatches & Review - Black Dahlia Lacquer Essentials Collection

Hi loves! Today I have another review of the brand new indie brand Black Dahlia Lacquer. Last week I showed you 6 shades from their Fall line, today it's time to introduce you to the Essentials collection! Made up of 6 natural and basic hues, this set provides everything you need in your stash to get started. Shimmers, jellies and cremes are well represented.

All swatches are done using Duri Rejucavote as a base and topped with an Essence top coat. It was kinda thick so if you spy an air bubble somewhere that's most likely the cause.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Beach Jasmine

Black Dahlia Lacquer Beach Jasmine is a nude tan creamy base filled with golden flakies. This went on smoothly in 2 coats and though it clashes a bit with my skintone, I still really like it!

Black Dahlia Lacquer Black Iris

Black Dahlia Lacquer Black Iris is a very deep dark gray cream. It's not pitch black but still very dark, and the formula was the best out of 6. Opaque and easy to apply, even clean up wasn't a hassle.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Daffodil Petals is a beige, creamy jelly that needs 3 coats for proper opacity. It levels well and applies nicely though you do have to use a light touch. A really unique shade I think!

Black Dahlia Lacquer Dove Gray Corsage is a medium gray shade. also creamy and easy to apply just like Black Iris.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Lily of The Valley

Black Dahlia Lacquer Lily of The Valley

Black Dahlia Lacquer Lily of The Valley is the most beautiful light gray shade ever. Filled with a silver shimmer that turns a bit pink depending on the angle, with added white flakies to surprise you, this is really good. Formula was great as well, 2 easy coats!

Black Dahlia Lacquer Oriental Lilies

Black Dahlia Lacquer Oriental Lilies is a white jelly shade. The formula was a bit more troublesome but I think it looks fine at 3 coats. Just use a light touch and let it settle for a bit in between coats.

Seeing these 6 shades together I think this is a great little collection. There's something for everyone and especially Lily of The Valley and Black Iris are great in formula and appearance. Oriental Lilies wouldn't be my first pick as a white but the jelly finish does give it a lovely squishy look.

What do you think of these 6 shades? Any favorites? Tell me in the comments!
