Hi loves! I have another fun Colors by Llarowe review for you this week. Last week it was all about the New Year, New CbL collection and the week before that I showed you the Hypnotic Polish exclusive called Intrigue. This time I'm showcasing 2 shades from the Colors by Llarowe Doctor Who collection, which consists of 18 polishes in total.
Curious to see more?

Colors by Llarowe K-9 is a deep red jelly. Please note that because of my lighting set-up and the sheer consistency of this polish, it looks lighter than it actual is. I used 4 coats for my pictures and I still have some VNL, though it doesn't really bother me since the polish itself looks nice and even. Application was good, be careful not to pool your cuticles - you don't need a lot of polish on the brush!
Colors by Llarowe The Eyebrows is an orange/green flakie that flashes red, copper and yellow. The base is a very sheer black tinted one, so if you layer this over lighter colors you may notice that. I used it both over K-9 and A-England Camelot. Over K-9 I used 1 coat, you could also do a jelly sandwich (which I actually attempted yesterday, but my pictures were all failing and then I damaged a nail, so...) with both of them.
Over black I used 2 coats of The Eyebrows, and the flakies applied well. No clumping, nthing sticking up or anything, well behaved flakies!
Overall conclusion
While not the most unique polishes ever, I like both of them. K-9 is a great jelly for jelly sandwich looks since it applies quite even and thin, and The Eyebrows is a fun flakie topper. The formula was good on both and they aren't too expensive either!
How do you feel about jellies and flakies? And have you ever attempted a jelly sandwich? Tell me in the comments!

Wish the colors were more unique but still pretty. I purchased their weeping angel flake top coat, haven't gotten around to it yet lol
ReplyDeletecool red
ReplyDeleteThat red though...it's so so shiny!
ReplyDeleteMy god, Deborah. Your swatches seriously take my breath away. Amazing. A-MAZ-ING.
ReplyDeleteI have serious, serious nail envy right now!
ReplyDeleteBoth are great! I love this kind of red :)
ReplyDeleteThose flakies look awesome over the black!
ReplyDeleteI admit to not knowing much about Dr. who, but I love a good flakie!
ReplyDeleteThat flakie! It looks amazing over black. I haven't tried a jelly sandwich and admit that my knowledge of Dr Who is limited to an unnatural obsession with Matt Smith and David Tennant and a very hazy idea of this bloke travelling in a Tardis in space to save civilisations across the universe, but the flakie is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThese are really pretty! I don't understand why but I'm loving red polishes lately! And flakies? You can't go wrong with flakies!
ReplyDeleteK-9 couldn't be more classy and those green-orange flakies look beautiful over it!
ReplyDeleteI love flakies over dark colors. I'd probably pass on these two since I have a couple things that are very similar but there were a few others from that collection that I really wanted. Your swatches are beautiful as always :)
ReplyDeleteI never know what to do with jellies! I see awesome jelly sandwiches and try them myself and they just don't look as good. I don't think I've seen a flakie quite like The Eyebrows. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose flakes look amazing over that black polish! These jellies look so nice and creamy, that red is amazing!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics!! Those are beautiful polishes! I'm a huge Doctor Who nerd, and I don't get how those polishes really fit with the names but they are pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of flakies in general but you make me want everything I see on your nails! Gorgeous swatches!
ReplyDeleteThat red is so sexy! And what a fun inspiration for a collection...I'm sure people will love this!
ReplyDeletePrachtig diep rode kleur zeg, wauw! En die flakies zijn ook cute.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love The Eyebrows OVER K-9! Red + flakies is one of my favorite combos!
ReplyDeleteI really like that topper over black! And the jelly is beautiful. I have once done a jelly sandwich, a long, long time ago at the start of my blogging days... But it was fun!
ReplyDeleteI can never get enough flakies, I love how these ones look over black. :)
ReplyDeleteI am a flakie addict and omigosh - these look so nice paired together. I especially love the red with the flakie - reminds me of Chinese New Year ;)
ReplyDeleteWow so stunning. I think this is one of the first times I see jellies and flakies in one!
ReplyDeleteI always love a solid red, so that one is a win. Honestly, I do not care for this flakie trend. I noticed the bottles look different in your photos. Did CbL change their bottle design? Just curious :)
ReplyDeleteI just love Doctor Who so I have to go look up more!
ReplyDeleteThat looks pretty too! And yeah, I know what you mean.. I don't get around to wearing those I bought either.
ReplyDeleteThanks :).
ReplyDeleteAnd squishy!
ReplyDeleteAwww STAHP you are making me blush! ♥
ReplyDeleteThanks so much ^^! Can you believe I used to bite them and even tortured them with acrylics?!
ReplyDeleteThank you Gocha :)!
ReplyDeleteRight?! The colorshift is always so mesmerizing that way.
ReplyDeleteMe neither! But who cares, pretty polish is what counts ;-)!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, your description of Doctor Who sounds accurate to me, but I ain't familiar with it either! Jelly sandwiches can be fun but mine just wouldn't show up properly on camera :(.
ReplyDeleteBecause reds are awesomeee, that's why :D! Thanks Kellie :).
ReplyDeleteJup, it's such a fancy shade, I love reds like these :). Thanks Paulina!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashlee! I agree, not the most exciting shades ever but good staple shades for those who are starting out :).
ReplyDeleteIf you have some of those nailwheels at home, just go ahead and try some things? Usually jellies and shimmery toppers combine well - just put on a layer of jelly, shimmer, jelly, shimmer and you can choose to finish again with jelly or leave it more shimmery.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie! I always love flakes over black :).
ReplyDeleteI think they are "just" names that are linked to Doctor Who, not sure though since I don't know the show myself. Thanks Nicole!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a sweet compliment ♥ thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure too, Doctor Who is so popular!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny! I wasn't sure at first but I love how it's a bit more subtle.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree :).
ReplyDeleteMaybe try one again? I don't do them often enough either.
ReplyDeleteThank you Norah!
ReplyDeleteHA, Jelly on Toast - love that!!! I might do that sometime too ^^
ReplyDeleteThanks! Het is inderdaad een prachtig diepe kleur.
ReplyDeleteThanks Katherine! While I am not too enthusiastic about them anymore, I did get a happy feeling from this look :).
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes, it does resemble the holiday a bit :).
ReplyDeleteThanks Roselynn!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how the "old school" flakies seem to make a come back - I personally like the metallic ones better now. Yeah it seems their labeling changed! I think the bottles are still the same.
ReplyDeleteYou should! It's a fun collection :).
