Swatches & Review - 2 Dance Legend Gel Effect shades

Hi loves! I'm back with Dance Legend Tuesday today ^^ and this time I'm showcasing two lovely creme shades. They're both from the Dance Legend Gel-Effect 2 range, which consists of 18 polishes in total. Somehow I can't find these on the Dance Legend website, not sure if they are still available? The original Gel-Effect collection is still listed so that's a bit weird.

Let's take a closer look!

Dance Legend Gel-Effect 1045 is a dark, creamy purple. It's a cool toned purple and the opacity is good. 2 coats are all you need to eliminate VNL. These polishes apply very evenly and even if they don't seem to level at first, after a few seconds you'll have a smooth glossy finish. I topped it with Essence Gel-look topcoat to add even more shine. The formula was slightly thick but still easy to control.

Dance Legend Gel-Effect 1046 is a soft, lavender shade with a hint of pink to it. Again, great opacity at 2 coats. The formula was better on this one, thinner but still covering very well and very smooth and glossy! This will make a gorgeous base for nailart I think :).

Overall conclusion
Based on these shades, I think it's safe to say the Gel-Effect shades provide you with a smooth, creamy finish. The only thing I don't really get is the gel-effect claim. I mean, it's not a polish that claims to stay put longer, obviously it doesn't have that plump, juicy finish a true gel mani has.. just call them "perfect cremes" or something and I'd love them too ;-)! I'm partial to 1046, especially since I am longing for Spring, but 1045 is just as lovely.

What do you think of so called gel-effect polishes? And which of these 2 would you pick? Tell me in the comments!
Dance Legend is sold through their own webshop. Dance Legend Gel-Effect shades come in 15 ml. bottles and retail for $7. Shipping worldwide is $10 and free if you order over 10 bottles.

There are also a few retailers listed on their website if you prefer shopping with a more local webshop. Hypnotic Polish is one of them and is based in The Netherlands. You can also find Dance Legend on Facebook and Instagram.

  7. I've yet to try a gel-effect polish but I am intrigued. I get what you're saying about these, though, and as far as cremes go, these really do look top-notch! I'm not even a purple nail polish type of gal, but these are both stunning on you and your photos perfect.

  8. I agree with your thoughts on gel effects. I guess you're right though - they are just more perfect than regular cremes.

I'm glad you explained the gel thing. I was reading this and looking at your swatches going "where's the gel coat??" Maybe it is the squish? Either way they are super pretty

  18. These are both perfect on you! Yeah...I feel like a lot of brands are playing fast and loose with the word gel lately and it is confusing!

I love the yellow one from this line, 897, it's one of the best formulas for yellow I've met.
