Blob- blob- blobbicure!

Hi loves! A simple yet fun look to share with you today, and please don't mind the nubs.. had a bad break somewhere last week, they already look a bit better already but I'm not used anymore to these shorties! Okay, so today's look is a blobbicure. Doesn't sound very attractive, right? But it actually is really fun and easy.

Curious to hear more?

This technique was completely new to me, until seeing this post on Facebook from Cirque Colors. It looked really cute and random, but even more important: something I could do as well :-D. So when I was feeling like doing some nailart the other night, I figured I could try this design.

My basecolor is the superpretty Let It Glitter Buzz Lightyear, which is described as a pastel neon lilac and I think it's quite accurate! While being bright and happy, it also has that soft hint to it. Before doing the nailart, I did a thin layer to build up the color a bit. The second layer was a bit thicker to make it easier to create the blobs.

The blobs are done using Too Fancy Lacquer Keep Calm and Love Unicorns, a sizzling lilac holographic shade. Don't these 2 look purrrfect together? After I painted a thicker coat of Buzz Lightyear, I simply took the brush from Keep Calm and Love Unicorns and put down blobs of polish. Because your basecolor is still wet, the polish you are adding has some room to move creating these irregular shapes!

Overall I really like this look, especially since the colors combine so nicely.

Have you ever tried this technique? And do you like it? Tell me in the comments!

  4. Love the blobbicures ! I especially love the creme & holo combo. Also your nail plate even when it's short is bigger than mine :D

  5. First of all, your nubs are lovely, don't even mention it. And I'm with you about blobbicures - I love how hassle free they are.
Plus, you really chose a winning combo and nothing beats that :)

I really need to try this technique! And your nubbins are not that nubbin-y - they look great!

  7. That turned out amazing! I never have good luck when I use thick coats so this technique makes me...wistful.

  12. These are such gorgeous shades! They remind me a lot of the LA Girl 3D holographics.

  15. These are so pretty, I like the coarse holographic particles in the jelly base! I yet need to try polishes from El Corazon.

This looks beautiful! Probably one of the best blobicures I;ve seen!

  21. Oh my gosh, how gorgeous are these?! The teal is my fav but I am literally drooling over all three! Wow. Wow!

  22. I'm in love with how this turned out!!! I really like how you didn't cover the whole nail with the blobs. The way the holo stands out against the creme is utter perfection!!

  23. I LOVE this manicure and I've tried the technique several times but so far the blobs don't seem to like me very much... either they take up half of my nail at once or they look like perfect circular dots I could have done with a dotting tool. I'll keep trying though :)

Super cute colour combination! I love that you only covered part of your nails with the "blobs" too. I've tried this technique and was surprised by how easy it was, unlike so many other styles that looks simple in a 15 sec instagram video but takes forever in reality :)

  25. I got Galaxy and Ocean as a replacement for my missing Payton and Dream by Zoya :D
But I would have grabbed them all, though, despite any similarities with bottles already in my stash.
Hello, this is Ilaria and I'm a holo addict LOL

  27. Aww, that's really sweet Norah, thanks!

  28. Aww, that's a bummer Stephanie! Ever considered using gel or one of those "longer lasting" products like Vinylux? Might give you more wear time out of your manis!

  29. They definitely become nicely opaque in 3 coats, if not my bright lighting would have pointed out patches like nobody's business lol.

  30. It's such a fun brand, I really recommend them! And thanks for your kind words Julie :-).

    ReplyDelete
  31. Right?! And because they are flakies, they are more fun to look at when the sun or bright light doesn't bring out the holo.

  32. Please do! If you can't navigate through it, you might want to consider shopping from hypnoticpolish.com instead, they ship worldwide as well!

  33. How awesome would that be? I wish I could meet with every nail fanatic out there.. you crazies get me lol. They build up beautifully for jellies, yes! But at the same the slightly sheer base is what gives them their depth.

  34. Thanks Dani, and I agree! Russian brands are awesome, Russian bloggers are awesome.. must be something in the water there!

  35. Thanks for the tip Myishia! If I didn't have as many untrieds as I still have.. can't justify the purchase ;-).

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ahh yes, I see the resemblance now you mention it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. They really make for an interesting finish, don't they? I really recommend these :-).

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks Katherine! I love them so much!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Haha, I knew you'd love these! Aren't they dreamy?

  40. Thanks Kerry! The color combo made this a total win for me!

  41. Aww, can you believe my nailbeds used to be way shorter? It was when I was still biting my nails, they've really "grown" the last few years.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks Didoline! My nailplate used be shorter, but when I stopped biting my nails they became more attached to my fingers, thus looking longer :-).

    ReplyDelete
  43. Aww thank you Mina <3! It always feels so weird to go short when your nails were longer - almost like your fingertips get cold lol.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thank you! It's a really fun technique :-).

  45. I was scared at first, but it didn't even take a million years to dry!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks Meghan! You could always try on a nailwheel first, to get a bit of feeling with the amount of polish you need :-).

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yesss please do :D It's so much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thanks Emily! I'm thinking of combining a mintgreen with A England St. George for my next look.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's what made this a winner for me as well - the contrast is gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thank you Lothwen, it's really fun to try!

    ReplyDelete
  51. It definitely is Cindi, just work one nail at a time :-).

    ReplyDelete
  52. Aww, why do turn out like that? Does the polish drip off your nails?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I wanted to show off that beautiful pastel neon purple as well! Thanks Dani :-). The little rainbow spots made me so happy.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hmm yes, my blobs are still quite "perfect" as well - I think the polish you blob with is of great influence as well.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thank you Zara! Yup, finally something that doesn't only LOOK easy but is really easy to perform as well :-D.
