Swatches & Review - Dance Legend Velvet 655 & 659

Hi loves! The next few weeks I'll probably be showing you some Dance Legends on Friday - I received another swatch package so I can keep you busy :-D. The first collecrtion I chose to tackle is the Dance Legend Velvet collection, which consists of 10 shades. Today I am showing you 2 of them!

More after the jump ^^.

Dance Legend Velvet 655 is a soft, greyed out blue shade. It's reminding me of porcelain! The formula was good on this one. I applied it kinda the same way as I did with the Zoya Satin shades - let your brush float above the nail and use plenty of polish. They dry rather quickly so thin coats will result in a streaky mess. 2 coats, no topcoat.

Dance Legend 659 is a soft, muted pink. Quite neutral and easy to wear. The formula was more troublesome. It was thicker compared to 655 and it was harder to let it float to avoid lines. That's why it looks a bit uneven in my swatches unfortunately. 2 coats, no topcoat.

Overall conclusion
While I like the color of both shades, I wasn't really impressed with them. Mattes without a shimmer or sparkle are always a bit tricky in formula and show every spot and bump. My choice would be 655 because the formula is easier to handle.

How do you feel about these shades? Any favorites? Tell me in the comments!
Dance Legend is sold through their own webshop, though it's not open right now. Dance Legend Velvet shades come in 15 ml. bottles and retail for $9.

There are also a few retailers listed on their website if you prefer shopping with a more local webshop. Hypnotic Polish is one of them and is based in The Netherlands - shipping worldwide!

  4. Bummer for the formula but that tends to be the norm with this type of polish. I love how your photos look though! Hmmm, smooooooth, like butta.

  8. Love these muted shades! Both of them look so great I think I could oversee the formula issues and still get them.

  9. Love both of these! Shame about the formula but you get that a lot with these kinds of polishes. You made them look flawless though!

  10. 655 is beautiful but bummer that both don't have a great formula! I had similar problems with the Zoya satins and had to really fight the polish to get it to apply. I suppose there is always top coat but that kind of ruins the whole point of the satin finish :/

  11. I love the color of 655, but I'm not a big fan of the satin finish. I topcoat everything because my polish never holds up without, so the whole effect just kind of gets thrown out the window for me haha.

  12. These are pretty colors but I'm not sold on the velvet finish. It's interesting and different but I don't think it's for me. Sorry to hear you had issues with the formula of 659
