Also, if you want to see more gorgeous swatches, make sure to check the review my friend Emily wrote. We did another link-up and she always has the bestest swatches and prettiest pictures <3!
Let's take a sip ^^.
Before we dive right into these beauties, let's talk formula a bit. My previous experiences with Il Était Un Vernis have been great, and this collection was no exception. All polishes went on smoothly and opaque, 2 coats were all I needed. Chardonnay felt a bit more sheer with 1 coat but still reached full opacity at 2. All swatches are topped with Essence Gel-look Plumping Top Coat.
Il Était Un Vernis Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark plum shade with a holographic finish. The holo effect isn't super strong, but it provides a lovely scattered sparkle and amazing depth. I have worn this shade twice already!
Il Était Un Vernis Chardonnay is a soft grey shade, with a holographic finish and gold shimmer and tiny gold flakes. It's such a soft beauty! It stands out a bit against the other bold shades, but I love it for its complexer finish.
Il Était Un Vernis La Paulée is an emerald green with a holographic finish, but the holographic sparkle is more trapped underneath the pigment. Also, my camera picked up strongly on the blue undertones making it look more teal. This one looks great both shiny and matte.
Il Était Un Vernis Merlot is a dark orange with gold and copper undertones and holographic finish. Quite a chameleon, depending on your skintone this appears more red, more coral or more of a true orange.
Il Était Un Vernis Pinot Noir is a bright ruby red with a holographic finish. I looove the darker tone of this one, it's not your typical red and there is still a nice amount of rainbow visible too.
Based on my previous experiences I expected to receive polish with a lovely finish, and I did, but besides that they are all gorgeous too! It has never happened before I actually wore almost every shade (except La Paulée) before publishing a review. My absolute favorite is Cabernet Sauvignon, but Chardonnay is super close.
Do you like these wines polishes as much as I do? Which shade is your favorite? Tell me in the comments!
