Nail art // 40 Great Nail Art Ideas - 3 shades of purple

Hi loves! Another installment of the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge today, I love how this challenge keeps me on a regular nail art rotation! Sometimes it's easy to get overwhelmed with swatching polishes but I love doing nail art so this is a great way to feature fun looks every 2 weeks. And today it's all about purple!

Let's take a closer look ^^.

The challenge prompt this week is 3 shades of purple and my personal pattern prompt is leopard. Well, I think this is a great combination, as there are plenty of color varieties in the purple section and also enough lights and darks to be able to create a leopard print.

But, instead of going with my usual all over leopard print using a lighter color for the spots and a darker shade to give them their edge, I wanted to do something different. I started with a very pale lilac base which is Dance Legend 1046 from the Gel Effect range. I used 2 coats and added a quick dry top coat to speed up the drying process. Then, using the skinny chevron vinyls from Whats Up Nails I taped off sections of my nail and used Too Fancy Lacquer Lilac Rain to fill those in.

Let it dry for a bit and then using a toothpick or the pointy side of an orange wood stick, draw on your teeny tiny leopard print. The color I used here is OPI Miss You-Niverse, a lovely dark shade without turning black. Again, wait for it to dry properly and add your final layer of topcoat, and you are done!

What do you think of this look? And have you ever tried this leopard print before? Tell me in the comments!
